PARKER ARCHIE MOORE

Parker Archie Moore lived his life fully. He was a leader, fierce teammate, best friend and had a genuine love and concern for others. To paraphrase the comments at his memorial service by Joe Smith, Linfield College Head Coach, Parker was the total package. A young man that every father wants his son to grow up to be. A man of  character, his word was his bond. A man of action. He was a worker that loved the grind. Teddy Roosevelt was writing about Parker when he penned the “man in the arena”. A true leader. Some people are born with a magnetic personality and strength of personality, that draws people to them. Parker was that man. Parker embodied the compassionate warrior. He was STRONG in ALL the best ways. Now besides being a man of action Parker could talk. And he was funny. He had that gift of timely wit. Since he cared about people he GOT people. He knew what would be funny and would interest others and he would go with it. His positivity was contagious.

We hope you can join us for this fantastic day of community and golf in honor of Parker.  For sponsorship opportunities and individual player registration please see the sponsorship tab above where you can sign up online or download our brochure.  We are excited to see you soon!

Parker Archie Moore is an amazing young man and we feel an indescribable and immeasurable loss after his 20 years with us. He had the biggest heart. He was a loyal friend. He was quick to smile, and intuitively seemed to know when it was especially needed. He had many, many friends – his friends crossed all groups – knew no bounds, no exclusions. He made many feel they were his BEST friend. He was an athlete with many accomplishments, a student with an appetite to learn and man of thought. His integrity was the same in all settings and situations. He didn’t change who he was to fit in or win someone over. He was always genuinely himself – comfortable and confident in who he was. People found him easy to connect with. The legacy of Parker Archie Moore is unending and expanding. A tangible aspect of Parker’s legacy is the opportunity to support educational scholarships for students that exemplify his qualities, characteristics and interests. We are filled with hope that paying it forward will amplify, multiply and proliferate his impact.

SCHOLARSHIP FUND UPDATE

We want to sincerely thank you for contributing generously to the Parker Archie Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund and keep you updated on the impact of your gifts. We are amazed by your generosity – cash gifts, Parker’s 3.5 mile Runs in McMinnville, golf event, lawn aerating project and continuous support for us. We are humbled, broken and deeply appreciative of all this as it honors Parker.

The purpose of the Fund is to make meaningful educational scholarships to students that exemplify the characteristics of Parker. Our desire and request to the recipients is that they look for ways “to pay it forward” in their lives thereby expanding the impact. At this writing, over $400,000 has been contributed to the Fund. The grants to date have been:

  • We just reviewed 59 qualified applicants for 2022 scholarship; we have narrowed it down to 11 finalists that we are interviewing over the next few days and will select up to 6 awardees for $10K scholarships

  • This will bring us to 33 students that received scholarships through the Scholarship Foundation of Northshore in Parker’s memory – these are amazing students and we are so proud of each of them

  • There are also 8 students at Linfield that have received an annual scholarship through their endowment in Parker’s name – this will continue in perpetuity

  • We have also provided donations from peoples giving to three other groups each year:

    • New Horizons – supports services for youth on the streets of Seattle – Hayley volunteers weekly at New Horizons

    • Camp Erin – youth grief camp for children – Doug volunteers at the King County camps each Summer

    • DECA – to help WHS students that qualify for the international competition but can not afford the cost to the competition – Parker participated in DECA

  • The giving has come from many, many people: individuals in the Woodinville and Linfield communities, fun runs, lawn aerating business, the Falcon Gridiron Club raise the paddle, and of course the Golf Event that Jon and Joey bring to the community

  • In total, $423,158 has been given and most of it distributed – we will likely go over $500,000 this year – this is staggering to think about…

This is just incredible and we believe that it represents Parker’s life of living with purpose, action, in the moment, caring and loving others…. with that big bright smile.

Thank you,
Doug, Julee and Hayley Moore
